A Night of Community, Gratitude, and Impact: Santa Teresa Lifeguards Christmas Gala 2025
On Saturday evening, our community gathered at Nantipa beachfront to celebrate something truly special — a night dedicated to our town, our ocean, and the people who protect it every day. With music for sunset, a beautiful atmosphere, and the energy of friends and neighbors coming together, the Christmas Gala became a meaningful moment for Santa Teresa.
The event was more than a fundraiser; it was a celebration of who we are as a community and what we can achieve when we stand together. Through the film premiere, shared conversations, and the presence of so many familiar faces, the night reminded us of the collective care and connection that define this place.
To everyone who joined us, supported us, or contributed in any way: thank you. We hope you enjoyed the music, the movie, and the warm spirit of the evening.
Most importantly, we are grateful and proud to share that together we raised 10,800 USD, funds that will go directly toward essential transportation for our lifeguards — ensuring our volunteers can reach the towers daily and protect the community during the busiest season of the year.
Introducing a New Tradition: The Santa Teresa Lifeguards Community Awards
This year, we launched the Santa Teresa Lifeguards Community Awards, created to honor the people who make our beaches and our community stronger. These recognitions reflect the spirit, leadership, and heart that define Santa Teresa.
Waves of Inspiration Award – Veronica Quirós
This award celebrates an individual whose impact reaches across the surfing community and the town. Verónica’s passion for surfing, her long-standing dedication, and the values she embodies — love for the sport, humility, respect, and pura vida — have inspired future generations and strengthened our cultural roots. As a mother, friend, and mentor in surfing communities across Costa Rica, her influence is deeply felt.
Gracias, Verito.
Athlete of the Year – Holman Ortega
Holman represents the discipline and spirit we admire in our community. Through early trainings, consistency, and an unwavering drive to improve, he sets a powerful example for everyone around him. His passion and commitment capture what it means to be a true athlete in Santa Teresa.
Congratulations, Holman.
Heart of Community Award – In Memory of Neil Wright
We honored the life and legacy of Neil Wright, a beloved chiropractor, friend, and community member of more than 25 years. Neil touched countless lives with his healing work, humor, and kindness. His presence brought comfort; his character brought people together. This award recognizes the joy, generosity, and love he shared with Santa Teresa.
Presented to his wife Isabella and his brother Keith.
Neil will always remain in our hearts.
See you next year,
your Santa Teresa Lifeguards team
